The representatives of Embassy of Poland in Beirut participated in a passionate lecture of Dr. Francisco Jesus Nuñez Calvo, Head of the Department of Levantine Studies at the Polish Centre of Mediterranean Archaeology, University of Warsaw and co-director of the Lebanese-Spanish-Polish Archaeological Project in Tyre. The event, focused on the presentation of the project, was organized by the Spanish Embassy in Beirut at the prestigious premisses of the Archeological Museum of the American University in Beirut.

The University of Warsaw has been actively involved in this project since 2020, which initially commenced as a collaboration between the Lebanese General Directorate of Antiquities and the Pompeu Fabra University of Barcelona, under the esteemed direction of Dr. Ali Badawi (DGA) and Prof. María Eugenia Aubet (UPF.) in 1997. Initially, the focus was primarily on the Iron Age necropolis of al-Bass, and since 2014, the team has shifted their attention to the renowned Acropolis of Tyre. Funding for these endeavors has been graciously provided by the Spanish Ministry of Science and Culture, the Palarq Foundation, and, since 2021, the University of Warsaw.

Simultaneously, several Polish institutions, such as i.e. Polish National Science Centre, are supporting a range of research projects stemming from the team’s work at the Acropolis.
