Culinary studio for children and adults with autism

30.01.2025

On January 30, 2025, we have finalized the project aimed at creating a culinary studio in a center for children and adults with autism run by the National Autism Community in Lebanon.

In the culinary studio, kids with learning difficulties learn how to properly and safely use kitchen equipment (manual and mechanical), kitchen utensils, and how to prepare meals. They also acquire skills to properly prepare and clean their workstations. They learn the principles of organizing work in the kitchen, health and safety rules. They also master the skills of taking care of the hygiene and aesthetics of preparing, serving, and eating meals, and learn the principles of setting the table, selecting appropriate dishes and cutlery.

Classes in the culinary studio will enable the students to stimulate their cognitive functions (such as planning, concentration) and develop cooperation skills. New skills will contribute to increasing the degree of independence of people with autism in their adult lives.
