Poland in Lebanon

The Polish Embassy in Beirut is supporting a film project about "Polish" storks. Two young filmmakers - Karolina Ford and Patryk Mazurek - intend to show the journey of this migratory bird from its birth to departure for wintering and return to Poland, having been inspired by the story of Michel Sawan and Fadi Habib, who fight every day for the safety of migratory birds in Lebanon.

One of the most important bird migration routes passes over the Lebanese mountains. Every year, poachers and irresponsible hunters kill hundreds of protected bird species. Polish and Lebanese environmentalists, in cooperation with the Polish Embassy, have been taking active steps for many years in order to protect migratory birds in Lebanon.

We eagerly anticipate the completed film and are sure it will make a difference in highlighting the problems faced by these majestic birds on their annual migration.
