Screening of a documentary film about Polish refugees in Lebanon during World War II at the film festival in Tripoli

The Embassy of the Republic of Poland in Lebanon took part in the opening of the International Short Film Festival in Tripoli. The event took place on May 11 in the charming Empire Cinema dating back to 1932, revitalized and reopened in 2022 as the Lebanese National Theater. We presented the documentary "Finding Home", created by the duo Dominika Ożyńska-Adrian Hartrick, about Polish refugees in Lebanon during World War II. In his introduction, the Ambassador of the Republic of Poland in Lebanon, Mr. Przemysław Niesiołowski, mentioned the wonderful Lebanese hospitality experienced by Poles who came to Lebanon after escaping from Soviet labor camps. He expressed his appreciation to the organizers of the film festival - actor and director Kassam Istanbouli and his team from the Tiro Arts Association, who are successfully building connections and promote peaceful coexistence through the cultural events open for the public. Tripoli, Lebanon's second largest city, has been declared the Capital of Arab Culture in 2024.
