The situation on the border with Belarus is not a migration crisis - it is a political crisis initiated by the regime of Alexander Lukashenka in order to cause destabilization and chaos in the European Union. It is revenge for the EU sanctions imposed on Minsk and the support given to the Belarusian opposition.

A hybrid attack on Poland and the European Union is accompanied by a wide spread disinformation campaign.

Flying in thousands of migrants from the Middle East to Minsk and trying to smuggle them from Belarus across EU’s eastern border is nothing more than yet another hybrid operation orchestrated by Russia, this time to put European solidarity to the test. Lithuania and Poland are standing up to this test with the support of other EU member states.

The collapse of Soviet communism was a process that began in Poland, with the Solidarnosc movement eventually overcoming an oppressive and inhumane order. A powerful motivation in that drive was the desire to reconnect with international institutions and with Europe.

Love for individual and collective freedom is part of the Polish DNA. It has helped us survive the most difficult moments in our history.
