Political Crisis initiated by the regime of Alexander Lukashenka. Polish-Belarusian border brief - update by 3 January 2022
04.01.2022
The situation at the Polish-Belarusian border remains tense, which is due to deliberate actions of the Lukashenko’s regime.
Last days at the Polish-Belarusian border were not calm. Belarusian services together with groups of foreigners are still conducting activities that aim to destabilize the Polish border. Their joint attacks are very aggressive. Foreigners and Belarusian forces are throwing at Polish soldiers and officers stones, branches, they are blinding them with lasers and strong spotlights. There are still cases of destroying border fences.
Belarusian services want to continue their operations against Poland, that is why they are conducting at the border joint activities with foreigners and they are spreading rumours among them.
Belarusian services propagate lies about the alleged negotiations concerning the opening of the EU borders and humanitarian corridors, for which Poland and the whole EU will supposedly agree. The aim of spreading such lies is to encourage foreigners to launch new attacks at the Polish border. At the same time we observe that the activities of Belarusian services increase the foreigners’ aggression and boost their determination. The situation remains tense, which is due to deliberate actions of the Lukashenko’s regime.
The use of migrants as weapons by the regime of A. Lukashenko is only an element of a wider plan. The aim is to create divisions among NATO and EU states and societies and deepen them later on.
From the beginning of the operation against Poland, Lukashenka's regime has used media manipulation against Poland and the West. The goal is to weaken the West's response to the hybrid operation.
A recent example of a disinformation campaign organized and conducted by Belarusian services was last week propaganda action that took place in a Belarusian logistics centre in Bruzgi, at the Belarusian-Polish border, which used children to promote slogans designed to pull on the heartstrings of the EU community. The operation meant to create more pressure on Polish and UE authorities to agree to the creation of a migration route organized by the Lukashenko regime. However, the slogans held by children indicated that foreigners and Belarusian services monitor the public debate in Poland on an ongoing basis.
