11.10.2023
In connection with the outbreak of the war in Israel the Minister of Sport and Tourism, in consultation with the Minister of Finance, have considered that in the country unavoidable and extraordinary circumstances have occurred that constitute grounds for launching payments from the Tourism Aid Fund.
Thanks to payments from the Tourism Aid Fund it will be possible to quickly cover the reimbursement to travellers of payments made by them for package tours that have not been or will not be implemented due to the current situation in Izrael.
The Tourism Aid Fund is one of the solutions aimed at supporting tourism, provided for in the Act of 17 September 2020 amending the Act on special solutions related to preventing, counteracting and combating COVID-19. From the technical point of view, TAF constitutes a separate account within the Insurance Guarantee Fund. The purpose of TAF is to support tourism enterprises and ensure the safety of travellers in the event of the occurrence of extraordinary circumstances. They can be events such as pandemics or other fortuitous events, for example the outbreak of war, volcanic eruptions causing flight cancellations, earthquakes or tsunami waves,
- reminded Vice-Minister Andrzej Gut-Mostowy.
The condition of payment
is the cancellation by the traveller of a package travel contract on a trip to Israel or the termination of such a package travel contract by the tour operator in the period between 7 October 2023 and 22 October 2023 inclusive.
