Ireneusz Nalazek
Undersecretary of State
Ireneusz Nalazek - former member of Poland’s national volleyball team, silver medallist at 1981 European Championship, sports commentator, specialist in advertising and marketing, sports organiser.
He made his debut in the volleyball first league with AZS Olsztyn (Olsztyn University Sports Club) with which he won many Polish championship medals and, twice, the Poland Cup. He started his sports career in AZS simultaneously with his studies at Olsztyn University of Agriculture and Technology.
In 1981 he became a member of Poland seniors national team with which he won e.g. a silver medal in 1981 European Championship. In 1989 he left for Germany to play on a sports contract. In 1990-1996 he was on contract in Belgium not only as an athlete but also as a coach. In 1996 he returned to AZS Olsztyn and supported the club from Warmia and Mazury region in entering the First League.
After ending his sports career he focused on political activity. In 1998, he became a member of Olsztyn City Council. In 1999, he became a member of Olsztyn City Board where he served until 2002. From 2002 to 2005 he was the chairman of the Budget and Finance Committee of Olsztyn City Council. In 2005 he worked at the Olsztyn Sports and Recreation Centre as Chief Specialist for Marketing, Sales and Advertising. He ended his work for the Centre following his appointment as Undersecretary of State in the Ministry of Sport and Tourism. In 2006 - 2023 he ran his own company called MINOL - Ireneusz Nalazek. Also, for nine years (2007-2016) he was a sports commentator on Polsat TV station and Radio Olsztyn.
Over the past two decades Ireneusz Nalazek was engaged in the field of Warmia and Mazury region’s broadly understood economic and social policy. He held a number of positions in associations, companies, supervisory boards and other institutions, overseeing their operations and working in advisory roles.
He is married, with two children and four grandchildren.
