Piotr Borys
Secretary of State
Member of Parliament since 2019.
In 2009-2014 he was a Member of the European Parliament. He served as Vice-Marshal of Lower Silesia Voivodeship (province) Assembly in 2006-2009 and Member of the Voivodeship Board in 2004-2005.
In 2001 he graduated from the University of Wrocław, Department of Law and Administration.
In 1998-2002 he sat on the Lubin city council while also serving as a member of the city management board.
He managed the Regional Development Agency "Arleg" S.A. in Legnica, and in 2005-2006 he served as the President of the public joint-stock company Aquapark Polkowice.
From 2003 to 2009 he was a member of the Lower Silesia Voivodeship Assembly, serving as vice-chairman. Later, he was appointed to the voivodeship board. After the local elections in 2006, he became deputy marshal of the voivodeship, where his responsibilities included, inter alia, sports and tourism. During this time he also served as President of the Lower Silesian Tourist Organization and sat on the council of the national Polish Tourist Organization in Warsaw.
He belonged to the Freedom Union and the Democratic Party. In 2006, he joined the Civic Platform party.
In 2009 he was elected to the European Parliament as a Civic Platform candidate, representing the Lower Silesia-Opole district. He sat on the Legal Affairs Committee and Culture and Education Committee, whose responsibilities included sports. He also worked in the delegation for relations with Afghanistan and the delegation for relations with Central Asia.
From January to November 2015 he served as chief advisor to Poland’s Minister of Foreign Affairs.
From 2016 to 2019 he headed the National Office of the Civic Platform of Poland.
In 2018 he returned to the Lower Silesia Voivodeship Assembly. In 2019 he was elected to the Sejm (Civic Platform), representing the Legnica district, where he receive 35,034 votes. He was re-elected to the Sejm in October 2023, winning 44,912 votes.
In December 2023 he was appointed Secretary of State at the Ministry of Sport and Tourism.
