Mehmet Tosun

Dr. Mehmet Serkan Tosun is the Director of the Ozmen Center for Entrepreneurship and International Business Programs in the College of Business at the University of Nevada, Reno. He is also a Professor of Economics and the Barbara Smith Campbell Distinguished Professor. His work as Director focused particularly on leading efforts in Nevada to support the entrepreneurship ecosystem through student training and business plan competitions and establishing international partnerships. Recent international partnerships include Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality in Turkey, SGH Warsaw School of Economics in Poland, Koc University in Istanbul, Turkey, Deusto University and the University of the Basque Country in Spain, University of Rome Tor Vergata in Italy, WHU Otto Beisheim School of Management in Germany, KEDGE Business School in France, University of Ljubljana in Slovenia, Hanyang University in Korea and Newcastle University in Australia. He is a research fellow of the Institute of Labor Economics (IZA), an affiliate research fellow of the Oxford Institute of Population Ageing, a research fellow of the Economic Research Forum (ERF) for Arab Countries, Iran and Turkey, and a fellow of the Global Labor Organization (GLO). Dr. Tosun received his Ph.D. in Economics from the Maxwell School at Syracuse University. He also has a B.A. in Economics from Bogazici University in Istanbul and M.A. in Economics from Boston University. He has done consulting for the World Bank, the International Monetary Fund, the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (UNESCWA), and the United Nations Development Fund for Women (UNIFEM), among many others.
