Professor Piotr Stepnowski
Professor, Rector and Vice-Rector of the University of Gdansk
Dean of the Faculty of Chemistry, Director of the Fahrenheit University Association in Gdansk, author of original methods of determining pharmaceutical residues in the environment, co-founder of the environmental research centre at the Faculty of Chemistry at the UG, recognised scientist and organiser of academic life.
At the University of Gdansk he heads - since 2006 - the Department of Environmental Analysis. The Professor's scientific activities fall within the field of environmental protection. He has co-authored more than 300. scientific articles and 3. academic textbooks. He has promoted 14. doctoral students. His papers have been cited over 12,000 times and his Hirsch Index is at 60.
Professor has held or holds a number of positions in academic, scientific and cultural institutions. He was the initiator and first director of the Fahrenheit Association of Universities in Gdańsk. At the Academy of Fine Arts in Gdansk, he chaired the first University Council. Since 2018, he has been vice-chairman of the Committee of Analytical Chemistry of the Polish Academy of Sciences. He also chaired Division III of the Mathematical, Physical and Chemical Sciences of the Gdansk Scientific Society. He was also president of the Gdansk branch of the Polish Ecological Club.
