Important notice: crossing Ukrainian-Polish border
26.02.2022
The Embassy of the Republic of Poland in Abuja is greatly saddened by allegations appearing on social media that some Nigerian nationals are denied entry to Poland from Ukraine. The Polish Embassy wishes to communicate that:
- Following the invasion of Ukraine by the Russian Federation the Polish government has been doing everything humanely possible for citizens of Ukraine and third party nationals to enter the Republic of Poland through the Ukrainian-Polish border. The Embassy of the Republic of Poland in Abuja would like to reiterate that all nationals are given equal treatment and none are discriminated against. According to the latest reports Nigerian citizens are among those who have in recent days successfully entered Poland through the Ukrainian-Polish border. However, we would like to emphasize that the situation at all the border crossings is becoming increasingly challenging and the time for a successful entry is longer with each passing day. It is therefore essential for all Nigerian citizens to contact their diplomatic missions covering Poland and Ukraine to obtain the latest information regarding the situation at the border crossing points.
- In view of the above and out of concern for the welfare of Nigerian nationals in the Ukraine who wish to cross the border into the Republic of Poland we provide herein essential information that may prove helpful in facilitating entry into Poland.
Please be informed that:
- All the border crossing points on the Polish-Ukrainian border are open.
- Nigerian nationals entering Poland will be permitted to stay in Poland for 15 days. For assistance in leaving Poland all Nigerian nationals are kindly asked to contact their respective diplomatic missions. The Polish authorities have transmitted essential information to all diplomatic missions present in Poland.
- The Polish Embassy in Abuja does not have any dedicated phone number in Poland nor in Nigeria to assist Nigerian nationals, all claims of being in possession of such a number are false. For any such number please enquire with the Nigerian High Commission in Poland or The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Nigeria.
- Any information concerning Nigerian citizens who, upon reaching the Polish border have been denied entry should be forwarded to the Nigerian Embassy in Warsaw or the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Nigeria and not to the Polish Embassy in Abuja.
