07.03.2022
The Embassy of the Republic of Poland in Abuja has completed a development project in Kambia, Sierra Leone. The project was financed by the Polish Aid program and implemented by the Catholic Parish of St. Augustine in Kambia managed by Polish missionaries.
The project is part of the flagship program of the Sierra Leone government called "Free and Good Quality Education" and aims to provide equal educational opportunities for children and youth. An Educational Center was established in the premises of the Catholic mission led by Polish priests in the parish of St. Augustine in Kambia, where primary school students will be able to take additional remedial classes. As part of the project, volunteers of the Center were trained, who will develop a special program of activities for all those interested. The Catholic parish in Kambia works with the Sierra Leone government and runs nearly 30 school facilities, providing basic education to nearly 20,000 children and adolescents. Thanks to the establishment of the Educational Center, also talented young people will have the opportunity to deepen their knowledge. The project consisted in renovating the existing building, renovating toilets and showers, purchasing furniture, teaching materials and providing computers. Additionally, the purchase and installation of solar panels was financed to ensure the continuity of the Center's operation.
