The discussion focused on the present security situation in Europe. The aim of the meeting was to lay the groundwork for further diplomatic steps in order to find a solution to the tense situation around Ukraine.

The head of the Ministry of National Defence highlighted that all countries and organisations of the Euro-Atlantic area need to cooperate closely and coordinate their actions. The minister stressed that Poland, as the current OSCE chair, counts on support from the US, NATO, and the EU in its efforts to give a new impetus to OSCE dialogue on European security. Minister Błaszczak informed his interlocutors that to this end Poland has been conducting consultations with OSCE countries in Vienna. The officials agreed that the key to success of these talks would be constructive engagement of all OSCE participating States.
