Malta takes over as the OSCE Chairperson-in-Office

On 1 January 2024, Malta began its one-year Chairpersonship of the Organisation for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) with the aim of strengthening the level of resilience and effectiveness of the Organisation.
- The OSCE continues to have a crucial role to play as a unique security organization and a platform for dialogue. Malta, as Chairperson-in-Office, will continue to work on safeguarding and upholding the fundamental principles and commitments enshrined in the Helsinki Final Act and the Charter of Paris – affirmed Ian Borg, Malta’s Foreign Minister and the new OSCE Chairperson-in-Office.
Minister Borg underlined that Ukraine will remain a priority for the Chairpersonship in 2024, and in the work of the Organisation Malta will emphasise the need to end Russia's war against Ukraine and to continue supporting Ukraine and its people.
Malta's Chairpersonship of the OSCE will be officially inaugurated at the OSCE Permanent Council meeting in Vienna on 25 January 2024.
