On the eve of the second anniversary of Russia's assault on Ukraine, the Maltese Chairpersonship of the OSCE convened a meeting of the so-called Reinforced OSCE Permanent Council in a capitals format to assure unwavering support and unity with Ukraine in the fight against the Russian aggressor.

Ministers of foreign affairs of OSCE participating States spoke in the spirit of unwavering solidarity with Ukraine and strong political, diplomatic, humanitarian and military support. They recalled the principles and commitments of the OSCE, which the participating States, including Russia and Belarus, which supports it, voluntarily accepted by signing the Helsinki Final Act.

- Until the day, when Russia decided that the rules-based international order is too tight for its neo-imperial ambitions, and invaded its neighbour - said Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski, while recalling statements made by Russian representatives before the February 2022 attack on Ukraine, in which they assured that Russia had no plans to attack Ukraine. Minister Sikorski emphasised the support that Poland has so far given to Ukraine, both by accepting hundreds of thousands of refugees, mainly women and children, as well as uninterrupted military support.

- There is no place for bargaining with aggressors. No place for trading our values in pursuit of unanimity where it can’t be reached - added the Minister - while stressing that Malta's OSCE Chairpersonship can count on Poland's full support with regard to its plans to keep the topic of Russia's aggression against Ukraine high on the OSCE agenda and to adapt the OSCE action plan to the realities of war.
