30th Anniversary of the Establishment of V4 – Press Conference in Islamabad

On the 15th of February 2021, precisely on the 30th anniversary of V4’s establishment, the Embassy of the Republic of Poland in Islamabad organized a media briefing with co-participation of the Hungarian and Czech Embassies.
The event, attended by top Pakistani media outlets, was led by Ambassador of Poland, Mr. Piotr Opaliński, who elaborated on the history, main concepts, future plans, and potential for Visegrad Group’s cooperation with Pakistan. The Hungarian Embassy was represented by Ambassador Béla Fazekas, while deputy head of mission Mr. Antonín Hradilek spoke for the Czech Republic. The presence of nearly 50 representatives from 25 largest media outlets in Pakistan, such as The Dawn, Geo TV, Express News, APP, Channel 5 or 92 News attests to a significant interest created by the event.
The most prominent topics touched upon by the inquiring journalists concerned suggestions for Pakistan resulting from the V4 Members’ experiences of transformation, the noticeably growing interest of Pakistani students in higher education in these countries, the epidemiological situation in Central Europe, as well as Polish winter mountaineering, which contributes to Poland’s positive image among diverse groups of Pakistani citizens.
After the main seminar, Ambassadors of the Visegrad Group countries held several individual interviews with a number of reporters, which further raised the event’s profile and visibility in local media.
