A Europe Day Concert

14.06.2021

On the 13th of June 2021 the Embassy of Poland in Islamabad, together with the EU Delegation and other member states’ Embassies as well as a cultural organization FACE, has organized a concert as a part of celebrations of Europe Day.

The Embassy of Poland together with FACE have conceived the general tone of this year’s edition of the concert, which uniquely combined Pakistani and European music and visual aesthetics, and whose main creator and producer was Andrzej Kijanowski. Due to limitations and security concerns during a state of pandemic, this year Europe Day was celebrated in the form of an online concert streamed on Facebook. It constituted a natural continuation of the already well-known in Pakistan, annual “Eurovillage” initiative, adapted to the exigencies of the current situation.

This year Poland was represented by Maria Rumińska, who jointly with Imran Aziz Mian Qawwal performed in a band by the name of “Hamara Muzyka” (Our Music), established in 2017 in Islamabad under the auspices of our Embassy. The artists performed two tracks: “Hamara Muzyka” and “Baadal Gorzołka”, which combined melodic and visual elements typical for Poland and Pakistan. Music from both these seemingly distant countries has been woven into a harmonious whole in a series of concerts enthusiastically received by the Pakistani audience and also organized by our Embassy. A series of music albums titled “Poland-Pakistan: Music without Borders” was born of this Euro-Asian cooperation, one of which was “Hamara Muzyka” itself.

Along with other artists from Pakistan (Umair Jaswal), Spain (Antonio Navarro Vega), Denmark (Rocqawali), Sweden (Soundquest), and Czechia (Cankisou), the Polish-Pakistani group “Hamara Muzyka” has additionally performed a common song “We”, presenting a fantastic message concerning hope and the latent strength of unity and cooperation.
