Pakistani-Polish Scientific Conference „Pakistan-Poland Relations: Challenges and Opportunities in the Changing World”

On December 6-7, representatives of the Embassy of Poland headed by Ambassador Mr. Maciej Pisarski participated in a scientific conference organized jointly by the Federal Urdu University in Karachi together with the University of Warmia and Mazury in Olsztyn. The conference was held at IBA City Campus in Karachi.

The guest of honour at the opening ceremony of the conference, which took place on December,5 at the Governor House in Karachi, was the President of Pakistan, Dr. Arif Alvi. Apart from the Mr. President, the inauguration was attended by the Vice-Chancellor of the Federal Urdu University Prof. Dr. Mohammad Ziauddin, the Chairman of the Department of International Relations of the Federal Urdu University Dr. Asghar Ali Dashti and the Director of the Institute of Business Administration (IBA) Akber Zaidi. The University of Warmia and Mazury was represented by Rector Prof. Jerzy Przyborowski, Vice-Rector for International Affairs Prof. Paweł Wielgosz and Director of the Institute of Political Science Prof. Aleksander Żukowski.

In addition, the Polish scientific community was also represented on the spot by Prof. Aleksander Głogowski (Jagiellonian University) and Dr. Robert Czulda (University of Lodz). Prof. Agnieszka Kuszewska (Jagiellonian University), Dr. Ewa Czarkowska, Dr. Magdalena Kumelska-Koniecko and Dr. Piotr Lotarski (all UWM) also participated in the conference via video links.

The two-day event was widely welcomed by the local academic community. Students took an active part in the discussions after the end of individual sessions addressing their questions predominantly to Polish scholars. The organizers described the event as an auspicious beginning for scientific cooperation between the two countries.
