03.06.2024

Presentations of a wide range of innovative green technologies, as well as discussions with Pakistani businesses, local government leaders, and scientific circles, were the key highlights of the GreenEvo accelerator's economic mission in Pakistan.

GreenEvo: Meeting at LCCI 6

On May 21-24, the Embassy of the Republic of Poland in Islamabad, in collaboration with the Ministry of Climate and Environment, led an economic mission under the GreenEvo initiative. Representatives from nine Polish businesses providing new green technology solutions attended the mission: Agata, AQT Water, Biocontrol, Ekoinwentyka, Ekotop, Far Data, the Institute of New Environmental Engineering Technologies, Petroster-Serwis, and Symbiona. The mission program featured business events in Pakistan's two largest cities, Karachi and Lahore.

The main purpose of the visit to Karachi was to participate in an economic event organized in collaboration with the local Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) and with the substantial participation of Mirza Omair Baig, Honorary Consul of the Republic of Poland in Karachi. Maciej Pisarski, the ambassador of the Republic of Poland, and Iftikhar Ahmed Sheikh, the president of KCCI, were present during the inauguration ceremony. The forum brought together several dozen local entrepreneurs who were introduced to Polish green innovations. The event's highlight was the vibrant B2B discussions with entrepreneurs from both countries.

Members of the GreenEvo team held discussions with representatives of the Sindh provincial authorities in addition to the meeting with business circles. The Polish technology offer and the potential for localizing particular solutions were the main topics of debate. A meeting with Syed Murad Ali Shah, the chief minister of Sindh, preceded the talks.

After Karachi, Lahore was the mission members' second destination in Pakistan. The primary event of the program in Punjab's capital was arranged in collaboration with the Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) and the Honorary Consul of Poland, Ahmad Hasnain. The meeting was met with a significant level of interest from local businesses. The main focus of the event was the B2B conversations, in which a sizable number of Pakistani interlocutors took part. The previous evening's networking dinner served as the event's kickoff, establishing the first contacts between Polish and Pakistani businesspeople.

At the end of the visit to Lahore, the mission members met with representatives of the Packages Group board. The Polish delegation was received by Syed Babar Ali, former Minister of Finance, founder of Packages, and founder of Lahore University of Management Sciences. The talks centered around business, science, and sustainable development.
