World Bicycle Day - #June3WorldBicycleDay

On May 31, 2021, the Embassy of the Republic of Poland in Islamabad participated in an international sports campaign "Bike for a Green Future", organized under the auspices of the Pakistani Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Climate Change, the United Nations Development Program, and Urban Innovation.
Participants cycled through Islamabad towards the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, where they participated in an event promoting activities related to biodiversity, evironmental protection, and ecosystems restoration. Additionally, the event aimed at encouraging lifestyle changes and bicycle use in an effort to reduce carbon footprint, noise pollution, and exhaust emissions.
Pakistan is this year's host of the World Environment Day. This event coincides with celebration of the World Bicycle Day established by the UN in 2018 at the initiative of a Pole, prof. Leszek Sibilski. Its purpose is to promote respect for natural environment, mutual understanding, a culture of peace, and sustainability transport.
