Christmas aid to Bethlehem

Polish Aid for the poorest inhabitants of the city arrived just before Christmas
It is already a tradition that in the week preceding Christmas, the Polish diplomatic mission in Palestine, thanks to Polish Aid funds, organizes aid for the poorest inhabitants of Bethlehem. As usual, with us are the city authorities, the Mayor of Bethlehem, Mr. Anton Salman and the irreplaceable Sisters of St Elisabeth, whose House of Peace becomes the distribution center of Polish Aid.
This year we have provided almost 400 food packages containing basic food products but also something sweet for children. Thanks to the cooperation with the city authorities, which know the needs of the local community, Polish aid will reach the most needy, both Christians and Muslims.
This year, Bethlehem is still empty. Since the outbreak of the pandemic, the situation and living conditions of its inhabitants have gradually deteriorated noticeably. Only a few pilgrims and tourists visited this city this year, which each year - despite the Israeli wall separating it from Jerusalem - attracted hundreds of thousands of visitors. The more we are proud that we have provided help for the most needy just before Christmas.
