Diplomats for Bethlehem

Charity lunch at the House of Peace in Bethlehem
On the day when the authorities of Bethlehem lit the lights on “Christmas tree No. 1” in front of the Basilica in Bethlehem, we met with a group of friends at the House of Peace run by the Polish Sisters of St Elisabeth.
It is already a local tradition that diplomats from Poland, the Czech Republic, Lithuania and Hungary collect used clothes, toys and donations for the children of the House of Peace in Bethlehem before Christmas. This time the tireless Sisters hosted the heads of diplomatic missions with a typically Polish dinner, while the diplomats brought for the children sweets and cakes typical of the countries they represent. Along with delicious Czech cookies and Hungarian chimney cakes, a real Lithuanian Sękacz (lit. Šakotis) was very impressive.
We sincerely thank the Sisters of St Elizabeth for their hospitality, Polish priests for their blessing, and our friends from the Czech Republic. Lithuania and Hungary for their enthusiasm and open hearts.
