Meeting with the director of the Qatar Development Fund (QFFD)

On 31st March ambassador J. Janke attended a meeting with Mr. Khalifa Jassim Al Kuwari, CEO of the Qatar Development Fund (QFFD). The purpose of the meeting was to provide the interlocutor with up-to-date information on the humanitarian situation in Ukraine, actions taken by Poland to assist Ukrainian refugees, and an assessment of the effects of Russian aggression.

At the beginning ambassador J. Janke outlined the functioning and priorities of the Polish development aid system, as well as humanitarian challenges in Poland and in the region in the context of the Russian aggression against Ukraine. It was followed by Mr. Al Kuwari who emphasized that the fund is monitoring the situation and is aware of the scale of the problems resulting from the Russian aggression against Ukraine. He stated that the war could have been avoided by using diplomatic channels. The QFFD, supervised by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Qatar, which currently employs approx. 160 people, provides support by engaging in development projects mainly in the field of health, education, and by providing tied loans / grants. It is also involved in  humanitarian aid but to a lesser extent.

The interlocutor declared his readiness to support humanitarian projects for those affected by the Russian aggression and to cooperate with the embassy on the subject.
