Poland in Qatar

The three-day programme of the delegation, led by Minister Magdalena Rzeczkowska, was filled with meetings with the heads of the main financial institutions of the State of Qatar. Within the scope of the Qatar Economic Forum, the Minister of Finance, participating in the panel, promoted direct investments in our region. The minister was also received by Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani and met with the Finance Minister, Ali bin Ahmed Al Kuwari. During the meetings, also with commercial banks, the minister focused on the subject of financial cooperation.

Ms. Magdalena Rzeczkowska, Minister of Finance, met with the Polish diaspora working for Qatari enterprises, financial and investment institutions.

Celebrations of the 232nd anniversary of the adoption of the Constitution of May 3. Around 150 people participated in the celebrations of the 232nd anniversary of the adoption of the Constitution of May 3rd. The event was organized by the Embassy of Poland in Doha and honoured with his presence by Sheikh Mohammed bin Ali bin Mohammed Al Mannai, Minister of Telecommunications and Technology, accompanied by Ambassador Ibrahim Yousif Abdullah Fakhro, Chief of Protocol of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Among the invited guests were members of the diplomatic corps, representatives of the Qatari administration, the business world, journalists and representatives of the Polish community. In his speech, the Polish ambassador emphasized the significance of the Constitution of May 3rd in the history of Poland, as well as the importance of Polish-Qatari economic relations. The envoy also expressed solidarity with the war-ridden Ukraine.

For the first time since its recent creation, the EU Delegation, together with the Member States, celebrated Europe Day in Doha.

Polish food producers together with the Qatari – Polish Business Council were present at AGRITEQ - the largest agricultural and food fair in Qatar.

This Year’s Global Security Forum began with a panel devoted to Russia’s aggression against Ukraine. On the anniversary of the invasion, the Forum participants discussed the role and importance of non-governmental players in the armed conflict. Dr Kacper Rękawek was one of the panelists.

On March 5-9, 2023, the second part of the Fifth United Nations Conference on the Least Developed Countries (LDC5) was held in Doha, with the participation of dozens of heads of states and governments. The leaders agreed on plans to implement the Doha Action Plan, a ten-year budget for a renewed and strengthened partnership between the least-developed and the developed countries, as well as with the private sector and civil society. The Polish delegation headed by HE Mr Andrzej Duda, President of the Republic of Poland, participated in the first two days of the conference. The Polish President together with the President of Slovenia, was the highest rank representatives of the EU Member States.

On 5th March 2023 HE Mr Ryszard Bartosik, Secretary of State in the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development met with Dr. Abdulaziz bin Turki Al Subaie, Minister of Urban Affairs at the Ministry of Municipality. The talks focused on the topic of the possibility of increasing cooperation between Poland and Qatar in the area of food security and preparing Qatar for EXPO 2023, which will take place in Doha between 2nd October 2023 and 28th March 2024 under the slogan "Green Desert, Better Environment". The meeting took place on the side-lines of the visit of HE Mr Andrzej Duda, President of the Republic of Poland to Doha, and his participation in the LDC5 Conference.

During the traditional camel races organized in Doha on 8th March, Ambassador Janusz Janke met with Mr Abdulla Mohamed Al-Kuwari, President of the AUCR (the Arab Union For Camel Races). As a traditional Middle Eastern sport, camel racing in Doha regularly attracts breeders and experts in the sport from Qatar, the UAE and Saudi Arabia. The President of the AUCR also expressed his interest in the development of cooperation between Qatar and Poland in the field of Arabian horse breeding, speaking highly of Poland’s expertise in the field.
