Polish-Qatari cooperation in defense industry

On 17 June H.E. Mr. Janusz Janke met Mr. Abdullah Hassan Al Khater, Vice-President of Barzan Holdings, a company fully owned by the Qatari armed forces with key roles in three areas: investment, research and development, and strategic defense procurement. The purpose of the meeting was to present the offer of Polish companies in the sector as well as to analyze possibilities for bilateral cooperation.

Ambassador Janusz Janke pointed to the dynamic expansion of scope of Barzan Holdings’ responsibilities since its establishment. He congratulated the interlocutor on the company’s achievements, including the successful participation in the Milipol 2021 exhibition in Doha in March this year. He highlighted that a number of Polish enterprises providing products and solutions in the defense sector boast high levels of innovation and are open to cooperation with foreign partners, including in the drone sector. The Ambassador drew attention to the implementation of the state of the art air traffic management system by the Polish Air Navigation Services Agency (PANSA UTM). Vice President Al Khater emphasized that Barzan Holdings is interested  in developing new international partnerships and a network of suppliers, which is in line with its strategic goals: strengthening Qatar's sovereignty and becoming a leading investment group in the field of defense and security in the world. He confirmed his interest in cooperation with Polish entities, appreciating the wide offer and high levels of innovation of Polish companies operating in the sector. He expressed his hope that it would be possible to learn more about their potential when the situation related to the Covid-19 improves significantly.
