The agreements open the way to deepening cooperation, including the implementation of joint research and development projects. In connection with the launch of cooperation, the products of both Polish companies were presented at the RBAT stand. Contacts between the partners had been launched by the Embassy of the Republic of Poland in Doha in spring 2021.

51% of the shares in RBAT are held by Barzan Holdings belonging to the Qatari armed forces. The remaining 49% is owned by the German Rheinmetall. The tasks of RBAT include, among others design, integration and implementation of command and protection systems for critical infrastructure, anti-drone systems, laser guidance, technologies for unmanned land vehicles (UGV) or management of resource purchases for the Qatari armed forces. The RBAT company continues talks with other Polish entities from the defence sector.

The DIMDEX exhibition was held on March 21-23 this year under the patronage of Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, the emir of Qatar. It was visited by over 20,000 people, including 90 official delegations (from Poland - none). About 160 exhibitors from 19 countries participated in the event. There were 14 national pavilions available, the largest of which belonged to Turkey (33 companies), followed by the USA (14) and France (11). During the event, 32 agreements were signed, including a letter of intent between Barzan Holdings and BAE Systems on the establishment of a technical and logistic service centre for the Qatar naval base at Umm Al Houl.
