The state visit of the President of the Republic of Poland to Qatar

3-5 December an official visit to the State of Qatar was paid by Andrzej Duda, the President of the Republic of Poland, together with his wife, Agata Kornhauser-Duda. The highlight of the agenda was the meeting with the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani and the Prime Minister of Qatar, Sheikh Khalid bin Khalifa bin Abdulaziz Al Thani, on 5 December.

During the bilateral talks, the issues of energy security, cooperation in the area of security and defense, food security, the possibility of implementing joint trade and investment projects, including under the Three Seas Initiative, as well as important events on the international arena, including the situation in the Polish-Belarusian border.


In the framework of the visit the President of the Republic of Poland visited the base of the Qatari Coast Guard in Al Daayen, during which he met with officers - graduates of the Naval Academy in Gdynia, as well as the National Command Center, which is the main center for coordinating the cooperation of Qatar services, including the Coast Guard. , during crisis situations. He also had the opportunity to visit the gas terminal in Ras Laffan Industrial City, where he was acquainted with its operation. In addition, the Presidential Couple visited the Qatar National Museum, a leading cultural institution promoting Qatar history, traditions and national heritage. Ms Agata Kornhauser-Duda held a meeting with representatives of the Polish School in Qatar. Captain W. Pilecki, and also visited Qatar National Library, Qatar Foundation and Katara Cultural Village. In addition, she was received by Sheikha Jawahir bint Hamad Al Thani, the spouse of the Emir of Qatar.


On the occasion of the visit, a gala dinner was organized with the participation of the President of the Republic of Poland and his wife as well as representatives of Polish and Qatar business circles with the participation of members of the Qatar Advisory Assembly (Majlis As-Shura), directors of Qatar cultural institutions and presidents of Qatar and Polish listed companies.


On December 5th the President of the Republic of Poland also opened the Poland-Qatar Economic Roundtable, co-organized by the Embassy of the Republic of Poland in Doha, Qatar Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Qatar-Poland Business Council. The speakers included Sheikh Ali Alwaleed Al-Thani, Executive Director of Investment Promotion Agency Qatar, Rashid Hamad Al Athba, Vice President of Qatar Chamber, Artur Cieślik, Vice President of PGNiG S.A., Beata Daszyńska-Muzyczka, President of BGK S.A., and Janusz Janiszewski, acting. President of the Polish Air Navigation Services Agency. It was attended by over 150 Qatar and Polish entrepreneurs, including Akbar Al Baker, Executive Director of Qatar Airways Group.


On December 5 a letter of intent on cooperation between the Polish Air Navigation Services Agency and the Qatar Civil Aviation Authority was signed, which opens up new opportunities for cooperation between both institutions, including in the field of air traffic control, including unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), using modern IT tools.
