Visit to Qatar of the dean of the Naval Academy in Gdynia

On 18-21 January in Doha, at the invitation of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Qatar, the delegation of the Naval Academy in Gdynia, headed by the rector of the university, rear admiral prof. T. Szubrycht.

During their stay in Qatar the embassy organized a meeting with Brig. Gen. Nasser Jabor Al Naimi, director general of the Coast and Border Security Directorate at the Ministry of Interior, the commander of the Qatar Coast Guard. The talks took place at the Coast Guard Base in Al Daayen, opened in 2019. The cooperation between the institutions was discussed, including the evaluation of studies carried out by Qatar cadets at the academy. The hosts emphasized the high quality of education offered by the school, which was confirmed by tests carried out at the national level. They expressed their interest in improving further the students' knowledge of Polish. They presented the infrastructure of the base and its tasks. On the same day, a meeting with the Academy's Qatari alumni from 2016 and 2017 was also held.

On January 20 the delegation took part in the graduation ceremony of 85 cadets at the Police Academy, which is responsible for education of future officers of all services subordinate to the Minister of Interior of the State of Qatar, including the Coast Guard. The ceremony was attended by the emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, and the head of the Qatari government, Minister of Interior, Sheikh Khaled bin Khalifa Al Thani. Numerous foreign delegations were present, including from the USA, Russia, Moldova, Ecuador, Jordan, Kuwait and Saudi Arabia.

The 10-person cadet groups of the Qatar Coast Guard have been carrying out 4-year studies in Poland since 2016. So far, 18 cadets have graduated.
