EU at Your School: Meeting with students of Yuying Secondary School.
01.08.2024
On August 1st, as part of the latest edition of the "EU at Your School" program, which aims to introduce Singaporean youth to the history and international role of the European Union, Second Secretary Wojciech Wątły visited Yuying Secondary School.
The meeting, attended by over one hundred students, provided an opportunity to present both the history of the European Union, its goals and achievements, as well as the image of Poland as a modern country with a rapidly growing economy and rich tradition and culture.
This year’s edition of "EU at Your School" focused on two key themes: digitalization and sustainable development. During the event, the Second Secretary of the Embassy of the Republic of Poland presented the European Union's major initiatives in these areas, highlighting their importance on both regional and global levels. He also discussed the forms of cooperation between the EU and Singapore, particularly emphasising innovative technological and environmental solutions.
Students also learned about specific examples of actions being taken in Poland in support of sustainable development and were informed about the activities of the Polish Embassy in Singapore in the fields of political, economic, and cultural diplomacy.
The session concluded with an interactive Q&A session, during which topics such as Poland's assistance to Ukrainian refugees were also discussed.
A "Poland" exhibition was presented in the school library.
The "EU at Your School" initiative, coordinated by the EU Delegation in Singapore and the Singapore Ministry of Education, involves lectures by diplomats from EU member states and meetings with students. The Polish Embassy has been an active participant in the project since its launch in 2019.
