First imports of eggs from Poland arrived in Singapore on 5 June 2020. Minister for Trade and Industry Chan Chun Sing, Poland’s Ambassador Magdalena Bogdziewicz and Non-Resident Ambassador to Poland Dr Loo Choon Yong visited an importer’s warehouse on Friday morning to receive the shipment.

“This is a tangible result of how economic diplomacy translates into new business opportunities, badly needed when established supply chains disrupt” -  mentioned Amb. Bogdziewicz referring to extensive cooperation with local authorities and agri-veterinary agencies. “Poland’s worldwide food export reaches 50 billion SGD a year. The broad variety of Polish food products can satisfy Singapore’s growing interest to diversify supply sources” - she added.

The eggs are the first batch of agricultural product shipments agreed upon in recent weeks. Over 40 containers of food (eggs, frozen vegetables, fish) are slated to reach Singapore in June and July, as part of the two countries’ commitment to strengthen bilateral economic cooperation amidst COVID-19.

In a Joint Ministerial Statement issued by Deputy Prime Minister, Minister for Economic Development Jadwiga Emilewicz and Minister of Trade and Industry Chan Chun Sing on 29 May 2020 Poland and Singapore aim at further enhancing connectivity between the two economies, expediting the flow of essential goods as well as ensuring that trade lines such as air and sea freight are open, efficient and effective.
