IV Polish Film Festival in Singapore
08.05.2022
This year's PFF brought to Singapore a selection of three recent works of Polish cinematography ranging from biography and comedy to drama.
During the 4th edition of the Polish Film Festival in Singapore, the Embassy of the Republic of Poland presented to the Singapore community a selection of the three recent works of the Polish cinematography - “The Champion” by Maciej Barczewski, “The In-Laws” by Jakub Michalczuk and “I Never Cry” by Piotr Domalewski.
Ranging in genre from biography and comedy to drama, the movies rooted in the Polish life realities and experience tackled topics that are universal: fight for freedom and dignity irrespective of how strong the aggressor can be, social and economic divide, strained family ties due to physical or emotional separations.
The festival program was well received by the local community, with two additional shows of “The In-Laws”.
A short, previously recorded speech by M. Bogdziewicz preceded the screenings, during which the ambassador referred to the war in Ukraine, emphasizing the need of solidarity and joint actions of the international community in the face of Russian aggression.
As an expression of support, on behalf of the Embassy of Poland in Singapore, 20% of the proceeds were donated to the Singapore Red Cross for the Ukraine Humanitarian Crisis Response.
This festival is an integral part of PolandSHIOK, our annual platform that since 2017 showcases in Singapore some of Poland’s best in a variety of spheres such as art, culture and creative industries, food and culinary traditions, tourist attractions, business opportunities and more.
