Meeting with Member of Parliament and NTUC FairPriceGroup CEO Mr. Seah Kian Peng
20.10.2020
On 7 October 2020 we had an honor to host at the Embassy Parliament Member representing Marine Parade Group Representation Constituency and NTUC FairPriceGroup CEO Hon. Seah Kian Peng
The meeting offered an opportunity to discuss challenges related to the pandemic, global supply chain disruptions, the trade unions’ origins and their social responsibility, in particular during the recession. Referring to the 40th anniversary of the Solidarity movement born in Poland ambassador Bogdziewicz highlighted the contribution of the workers movement to the democratic and socio-economic changes in Central and Eastern Europe that resulted in the fall of the Iron Curtain, underlining how this heritage translates into international solidarity and support offered by Poland to countries hit by pandemic.
It is in this context that the close cooperation between Polish and Singaporean entities in the previous months was reviewed. The intensification aimed at supporting Singapore’s efforts to diversify its food supply sources resulted in an significant increase of bilateral trade in the first half of the year. Opportunities to further enhance the relationship should be built on both the strengths of Polish food production and processing sector as well as Singapore’s role as a regional trade and distribution hub.
