Official Visit of Poland's Foreign Affairs Minister Radosław Sikorski to Singapore
02.09.2024
Minister Radosław Sikorski arrived in the Republic of Singapore on September 2, 2024, as part of his four-day tour of the Southeast Asia region.
This trip also marked the 55th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Poland and Singapore.
Poland’s Minister met the country’s top officials: Prime Minister Lawrence Wong, Minister of Foreign Affairs Vivian Balakrishnan, and Coordinating Minister for National Security Teo Chee Hean.
The agenda of meetings with the highest Singaporean authorities included topics of strengthening of bilateral relations, in particular in the area of security and economy as well as assessment of regional and global economic and security challenges.
Minister Sikorski delivered also an open lecture at the International Institute for Strategic Studies (IISS) on Europe: "Confronting 21st Century Imperialism".
In his remarks, he emphasized that we all live in the neighbourhood of large, powerful, and sometimes unpredictable states with global ambitions. But to ensure the right to follow our own path, revisionist powers must be prevented from overthrowing the system based on international law. It may be flawed and outdated, but the answer to these weaknesses is reform, not war.
Additionally, the Head of the Polish MFA attended a brief meeting with representatives of the Polish community in Singapore.
