Promotion of cooperation in the field of modern technologies - webinar organized as part of the celebration of the Stanisław Lem year

What do Stanisław Lem and the golden age of Polish technology have in common? What are the challenges for technological development and how can they be managed? How to build cooperation on the technological level between Poland and Singapore? These are some of the topics discussed during the webinar "Promoting Technology Cooperation between Poland and Singapore", organized on the initiative of the Embassy of the Republic of Poland in Singapore and in cooperation with SGInovate, a local incubator supporting the ecosystem of innovation and modern technologies.

The meeting was inspired by the celebration of the 100th birthday of Stanisław Lem and the year of this outstanding prose writer and futurologist announced by the Polish Parliament. His visionary ideas were referred to in his speech by Dr. Maciej Kawecki, president of the board of the Institute of the Future. S. Lem, emphasizing their topicality and importance for innovators, both in Poland and in Singapore. In the opening speech of the webinar, Ambassador M. Bogdziewicz pointed to the advantages of the Polish economy, an increase in expenditure on research and development and the creation of an effective system involving innovators in commercialization processes, recognizing the broadly understood area of ​​IT solutions as a particularly promising area of ​​bilateral cooperation.

The panel discussion was about a humano-centric approach to innovation, incl. similarities and differences in the perception of modern technologies in Poland and Singapore, their impact on the life of an individual and society. The speakers shared their opinion on building a successful relationship between humans and artificial intelligence and the role that ethics and legal solutions should play in this process. They talked about the need to build responsible leaders among innovators who are aware not only of the advantages, but also of the risks associated with the development of modern technologies, as well as the need to create a framework enabling effective minimization of the negative effects of technological development. The discussion panel was attended by: Dr. Maciej Kawecki, president of the Institute of Stanisława Lema, Natalia Hatalska, founder and CEO of infuture institute and professor David De Cremer, founder and director of the Center on AI Technology for Humankind, chairman and professor of NUS Business School. The meeting was moderated by Teo Yi-Ling, lecturer from the Center of Excellence for National Security - S Rajaratnam School of International Studies. The meeting, addressed mainly to start-ups, employees and students of universities, was organized as part of the 5th edition of the PolandSHIOK festival.
