“Effective use of the opportunities offered by modern digital technology in health prevention and care helps contain the COVID-19 pandemic,” emphasised Minister Jacek Czaputowicz during a ministerial video conference on the use of digital technology in the context of the coronavirus pandemic, held on 1 July this year.
The chief of Polish diplomacy drew attention to the dangerous phenomenon of the rise in criminal and disinformation activities in cyberspace targeting citizens, private entities, state structures, including hospitals and other facilities involved in the fight against the pandemic.
Minister Czaputowicz declared Poland’s readiness for multilateral cooperation in this area. Quoting Poland’s experience, he pointed out that as regards the fight against Covid-19 effective actions require cooperation between health and ICT experts.
The foreign minister spoke about Poland’s experiences in the field of introducing IT in health care and developing remote forms of care, including telemedicine, and apps developed by the government to contain the spread of the virus.
In conclusion, Minister Czaputowicz declared Poland’s support for the Declaration, submitted for adoption by the video conference’s organisers. It lists measures to fight the coronavirus and identifies the current directions in digital health, cyber security, and the development of digital competences in this area.
The conference was organised at the initiative of Estonia and Singapore—countries particularly interested in the role of the internet and digital transformation, as well as leaders of the Group of Friends on e-governance and cybersecurity.
