Krzysztof K. was detained on April 12 this year in Gdansk. The detention follows an investigation into two people who run an art gallery in Sweden. From January 2013, Krzysztof K. acted as an agent in a project involving investing in works of art. Offering the so-called "art investment", the agent accepted funds from entities and natural persons for the time and interest declared in advance. As the investigation showed, many of the funds invested in this way were not secured by real works of art. The man received a financial benefit of over PLN 19 million and EUR 250,000 from the commissions he received.

In the course of their activities, the ABW officers searched the detainee's place of residence. The man was charged with conducting parabanking activities without having the appropriate permit. The criminal activity constitued his permanent source of income. The suspect was subject to a preventive measure in the form of a property surety in the amount of PLN 1 million and police supervision.

The main defendants in the investigation - the organizers of the fictitious trade in works of art - Joanna S. and Mikael S. are in custody. Krzysztof K. is the twenty-fifth suspect in this case.

The proceedings are conducted by the Regional Office of the Internal Security Agency in Białystok under the supervision of the Regional Prosecutor's Office in Białystok.
