Anti-Ukrainian fake news

Russian disinformation activities against Poland focuses on arousing hostility between Poles and Ukrainians. Some of the messages are attempts to convince Poles that by accepting refugees from Ukraine they are exposing themselves to economic crisis, security risks and social problems.
The message, aimed at arousing Poles’ objection to accepting Ukrainians, is often triggered on the basis of events completely unrelated to Ukrainians in Poland. This was the case, for example, after the tragedy that happened in Warsaw. After the murder case in Nowy Swiat disinformation activities were identified to convince the society that the murder was due to the policy of accepting Ukrainian refugees in Poland.
In the social media, suggestions and false theses were multiplied to indicate that Ukrainian citizens were responsible for the death of the victim of the attack in Warsaw. In the debate on this topic, false information was also disseminated, claiming that Ukrainians were responsible for the majority of crimes in Poland. The content from years ago was manipulated, presenting it as an image of current threats to Poles. The murder in Warsaw was used for information activities against relations between Poles and Ukrainians. This case shows that disinformation aimed at a given country is based on current events in the country under attack, thus becoming part of the current public agenda.
The messages circulated on the occasion of the murder in Warsaw are part of Russian disinformation, which creates information chaos and pursues the Kremlin's political interests. Today, one of the most important fields of influence is the creation of hostility between Poles and Ukrainians. It should be assumed that every event that arouses social emotions can be used to spread lies aimed at building a potential for revolt among Poles against hosting in Poland Ukrainians, who are fleeing from the Russian threat.
