Russia’s goal is to destroy Ukraine

29.04.2022

The Kremlin's main goals have not changed: the destruction of the present Ukrainian state and nation as a whole. Russian aggression and crimes against the population continue.

Russia's recent military actions against Ukraine indicate that Russia's main objectives have not changed. The Kremlin consistently aims to destroy independent Ukraine and turn its territory into a grey area of European security. The military operations conducted by the Russian Armed Forces lead to the systematic destruction of Ukraine's military, demographic, economic, cultural and natural potential.

The Russian authorities continue their military aggression, which is focused on the eastern and southern areas of Ukraine. Moscow seeks to completely control them and destroy points of Ukrainian resistance. Russia aims to cut Ukraine off from the sea and to occupy the eastern territories of Ukraine.

The situation is particularly difficult in the occupied areas, where repression, the installation of collaborationist authorities and mass deportations of a practically Stalinist nature are continuing.

This is accompanied by plundering, sanctioned by the authorities in Moscow, of state and private property, including food supplies. Currently, the priority of Russian actions is to paralyse the logistic system - the main railway hubs, fuel bases, road-rail crossings, which on the one hand is supposed to make it more difficult for the West to support Ukraine, and on the other to destroy Ukrainian infrastructure.

Moscow is also increasing pressure on the West, including through propaganda, cyber, energy and political actions. It is to be expected that restrictions on the supply of raw materials will go beyond the area of hydrocarbons and may also involve restrictions on access to other raw materials, including those important for the European plan to develop renewable energy sources.
