Can I get legal aid to cover the costs of court proceedings?

Participants in court proceedings on parental responsibility pay the fees and cover the expenses stated in the Act on court costs in civil matters. However, pursuant to Article 102(1) of that Act, a participant in court proceedings may seek to have the court costs waived if he or she makes a declaration that he or she is unable to bear them without prejudice to his or her own and his or her family’s subsistence. A declaration containing details of the family situation, financial standing, income, sources of income, and expenses of the person requesting that the costs be waived must be enclosed with the application. The court may agree to waive certain court costs for a participant in the court proceedings if the participant in the court proceedings is only able to bear some of those costs (Article 101(1)).
