At consultations with the head of Swedish diplomacy Tobias Billström, the Ministers raised issues of bilateral relations, security in the Baltic Sea region and in Europe in the context of Russian aggression against Ukraine, and further possible actions to support Kyiv. The strategic dimension of bilateral cooperation and the convergence of Polish and Swedish stances on security and Eastern policy were also emphasised.

Minister Rau's talk with Speaker Andreas Norlén concerted on bilateral relations, Sweden's accession to NATO and the situation in the region. The interlocutors expressed satisfaction with the current state of bilateral relations and stressed the need to further develop both their political and economic dimensions.

At Uppsala Castle, Minister Rau held a meeting with the Governor of the Uppsala region, Göran Enander, which provided an opportunity to discuss Polish-Swedish cooperation in the fields of science and education. The issue of Ukrainian refugees staying in Poland was also discussed, including the involvement of the Polish state and society in providing assistance to refugees as well as the possibility of further support.

The visit to Sweden was also an occasion to visit Swedish cultural institutions, which hold numerous valuable Polish pieces and exhibits. Minister Rau visited the Stockholm Army Museum and the armoury of the Royal Palace, as well as the Uppsala University Library, the collection of which houses, among others, works by Mikołaj Kopernik and the Łaski's Statute.

Minister Rau also paid a visit to the Catholic cemetery of Haga Norra, where many Poles and representatives of the Polish diaspora rest. In recognition of this year's 160th anniversary of the outbreak of the January Uprising, the Minister laid wreaths on the graves of insurrection activists.
