Poland helps Syrian people affected by the earthquake
12.04.2023
The devastating earthquake, which hit Syria in February, had caused thousands of victims and significant material losses. More than 8 million Syrians have been affected by its immediate aftermath. Poland responds to the calls for help.
The earthquake struck these Syrian territories, which were previously affected also by the civil war and devastating Russian airstrikes. Due to a severe humanitarian crisis, Polish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in cooperation with the Chancellery of the Prime Minister and Governmental Strategic Reserves Agency, organised transport of material assistance for the Syrian people affected by the cataclysm.
The donated assistance includes disinfectants, personal medical protection equipment, medical supplies, stretchers and blankets.
The total value of transported aid exceeds 15.2 million PLN. Polish humanitarian assistance is delivered to the affected Syrians beyond the political divisions, both in the government controlled areas and in north-west part of Syria. Polish aid is transferred through European Union Civil Protection Mechanism.
