Students – important changes regarding supporting documents – national visa (type D)

From August 1, 2024, foreigners who apply for a national visa (type D) for the purpose of first-cycle studies in Poland are required to submit supplementary documents, which, in accordance with the Guidelines of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of July 31, 2024 on the consideration of visa applications for the purposes referred to in Art. 60. Paragraph 1 points 5-6 and 9 of the Act of December 12, 2013 on foreigners (Journal of Laws of 2024, item 769), have been supplemented with:
an administrative decision recognising a document confirming secondary vocational or secondary education in the Republic of Poland, or the right to continue education, including the right to apply for admission to higher education, taking into account the scope of rights in the country of issue of the certificate or other document referred to in art. 93 sec. 3 of the Act of 7 September 1991 on the education system (Journal of Laws of 2023, item 2005) issued by the education superintendent competent for the seat of the institution to which the foreigner intends to submit the certificate or other document issued abroad.
Obtaining a decision from the relevant education superintendent in the Republic of Poland should take place before submitting an application for a national visa.

We would like to remind you that in accordance with Article 65 paragraph 1a of the Act of 12 December 2013 on Foreigners (Journal of Laws of 2024, item 769), the applicant has the right to supplement the missing documents within 7 days of submitting the visa application.
