Tomasz Cytrynowicz
The Head of the Office for Foreigners
Since 2002, Tomasz Cytrynowicz has worked on migration issues – first at university, in NGOs, and then in public administration. He was a lawyer for many years in the Polish civil service. He has refugee status determination procedures and legal migration procedures in his portfolio as well as international cooperation and public communication matters. Prior to his appointment as Head of the Office for Foreigners, Tomasz Cytrynowicz served as Director of the Bureau of the Head of the Office for Foreigners for the past ten years.
The Head of the Office for Foreigners is the central government administration body competent in the following matters:
1) entry of foreigners into, transit through, remaining in and leaving the territory of the Republic of Poland;
2) granting refugee status;
3) granting subsidiary protection;
4) granting residence permits for humanitarian reasons or a permit for tolerated stay;
5) granting asylum to foreigners;
6) granting temporary protection.
The detailed tasks of the Head of the Office are defined in Article 22 of the Act on Foreigners.
