Permit for temporary residence – graduate
As a graduate of a Polish university, do I need a permit to work in Poland?
No. The work permit requirement has been waived for graduates of full-time university studies. The graduation exempts such persons from the “labor market test” but, still, the residence permit is required.
I have graduated from a Polish university and I am seeking employment. What can be term / validity of my permit for temporary residence?
A permit for temporary residence for this purpose is granted only once, for 9 months.
The Law on Foreign Na-tionals allows for granting a permit for temporary resi-dence to a foreign national who has graduated from a Polish academy. Who is a “graduate” and what are the requirements for get-ting the permit?
The “graduate” means a holder of a diploma certifying the graduation from first-cycle studies, full-time second-cycle studies, postgraduate studies or a doctoral school with a title of bachelor, engineer, master, master-engineer, doctor or an equivalent.
So, if you are a third-country national, have such a Polish diploma and wish to settle to find employment or run a business, you may apply for a permit for temporary residence “for other reasons” under art. 186(1)(6) of the Law on Foreign Nationals. The permit may be given once, for 9 months. To get it, you should file the application form with the Province Governor in person, during your legal residence in Poland, directly after your graduation. You will need to prove that you have a medical insurance, an address of residence in Poland and sufficient funds for your subsistence and for the return to your country.
