"A Polish Envoy in England – Five Hundredth Anniversary of Ioannes Dantiscus’s Visit to ‘a Very Dear Island’" is written by Katarzyna Jasińska-Zdun and published by the Embassy of the Republic of Poland in London. Drawing from the latest research and analysis of letters by Ioannes Dantiscus (1485-1548) to the Royal Court, this brochure provides a unique insight into life in England in the early 16th century through the eyes of its first Polish diplomat. Known as the ‘Father of Polish Diplomacy’, Dantiscus was a Renaissance scholar, a distinguished diplomat and bishop of Chełmno and Warmia who travelled to almost every country of Europe. He maintained contact with numerous prominent personalities of his time.
