Aid Organisations Conference
30.04.2024
On 27 April, the Polish Embassy in London hosted an event for representatives of organisations in the UK assisting Poles – from obtaining settlement status to supporting people in crisis of homelessness or families whose children have been taken away.
Sixty people attended the event, representing foundations and groups operating in Belfast, Glasgow, London, and Portsmouth, among other places. The guests presented their organisations, the profile of their activities, and the most significant challenges they face.
Małgorzata Brady of PBIC Bedford shared her concept of closer cooperation between Polish organisations. Sgt Monika Malecka, a member of the Metropolitan Police Polish Association, talked about the possibilities of obtaining support from the uniformed services. Michal Siewniak, Welwyn Hatfield Borough Councillor, discussed the topic of gathering additional funds at the local level. Lastly, Consul Tomasz Balcerowski of the Polish Embassy in London presented funding opportunities available for organisations supporting Poles in the UK.
The event successfully facilitated networking between the various charitable organisations, paving the way for future collaborations. It also allowed the Embassy to strengthen its ties with local partners, promising a more robust support system for the Polish community in the UK.
