20.05.2023
This year on 14th of May the Consulate General of the Republic of Poland in Edinburgh organised a concert followed by reception to mark the 233rd anniversary of the 3rd of May Constitution and the 20th anniversary of Poland's accession to the European Union.
As part of this year's events, the Consulate organised a jazz concert by a renowned Polish artist Artur Dutkiewicz at St Giles' Cathedral in the city centre of Edinburgh. In his recital, A. Dutkiewicz presented a repertoire of classical Polish music, including Polish composers associated with Scotland, well-known Polish and Ukrainian folk songs as well as works by a more contemporary artist Czesław Niemen. This year's celebrations, attended by over 300 people, were a huge success, and the concert itself was praised by many guests.
The event was attended by numerous MSPs, representatives of government administration, Provosts and representatives of local authorities, and the Scottish as well as Polish communities. The concert in the St Giles Cathedral was followed by reception and an illumination show with the logo of the 20th anniversary of Poland's accession to the EU on the facade of the Edinburgh City Chambers.
