Jurek Owsiak visits Scotland
20.04.2024
Jurek Owsiak and his wife were invited to Scotland by the Edinburgh headquarters of the Great Orchestra of Christmas Charity (WOŚP). Their primary reason for the visit was to receive an original Scottish kilt, specially crafted from tartan designed exclusively for WOŚP.
During their time in Scotland, Consul General Łukasz Lutostański had the pleasure of hosting Jurek Owsiak, his wife, members of the WOSP Edinburgh headquarters, and Mrs Lesley Duncan—a Scottish philanthropist involved in designing and registering the tartan for the Great Orchestra of Christmas Charity—at a gala dinner. Jurek Owsiak's visit also provided an opportunity to connect with the local Polish community.
The highlight of the visit was a special reception in Edinburgh, where Jurek Owsiak was presented with the Scottish kilt. With the help of our Scottish friends, Jurek promptly donned the kilt and proudly displayed it to the gathered guests. In turn, Jurek Owsiak presented Mrs Lesley Duncan with a traditional Łowicz folk costume. The ceremony was deeply moving, with representatives from various Polish communities in attendance.
We invite you to watch a short film documenting Jurek Owsiak's visit to Scotland and listen to a conversation on Polish Radio with the head of WOŚP in Edinburgh and a staff member about Jurek Owsiak's visit and the unique orchestral kilt.
