10.02.2022Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki: Great Britain has made a wonderful demonstration of solidarity with Ukraine, Poland and the eastern part of NATOOn 10 February 2022, Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki met in Warsaw with the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland. Boris Johnson's visit is a proof of allied solidarity in bilateral relations and in NATO, in the face of threats to European security. Prime Ministers discussed security in the region, particularly with regard to Russia's actions against Ukraine. After the meeting at the Prime Minister's Office, both prime ministers visited British and Polish soldiers at the military base in Wesoła.

The main topic of the politicians' discussions was the crisis on the eastern border of the European Union. The head of the British government informed that, in the situation of the migration crisis, his country stands side by side with Poland. He also emphasized that, in terms of long-term security but also many other areas, Poland is the closest European ally of the United Kingdom in NATO.

14.11.2021Celebrating Feliks JaniewiczOn 12th and 14th of November 2021, a series of music concerts was held in the newly renovated Polish Ex-Combatants House. Presented music included amongst others that of Feliks Janiewicz (1762-1848), an outstanding Polish violinist and composer, a musician of great importance for the Scottish music scene and a co-founder of the first Edinburgh Music Festival in 1815, whose work is unknown in Scotland.

11.11.2021103rd anniversary of Poland regaining independenceOn 11 November 1918, 103 years ago, Poland regained its independence. On this day, after his release from the Magdeburg Fortress, Józef Piłsudski took over military command from the Regency Council and, three days later, assumed supreme authority over civilian matters, to finally “as Commander-in-Chief of the Polish Army [...] notify belligerent and neutral governments and nations” of the reappearance of “the reborn and independent Republic of Poland” on the map. After 123 years of captivity, Poland became a sovereign and internationally recognised state.
